Museum of Ethnology - Learn more about ethnic groups in Vietnam and around the world
The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is a museum in Hanoi, Vietnam that focuses on the country's 54 officially recognized ethnic groups. It is situated on a 43,799-square-metre plot of land in the Cu Giay District, about 8 kilometres from the city center. The Museum is a member of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, a government-sponsored academic organization in Vietnam.

Overview of Vietnam Ethnology Museum
Vietnam is a multi-ethnic country made up of 54 ethnic groups. The Vietnamese government decided to create an ethnology museum in Hanoi in order to preserve and showcase the cultural heritages of various ethnic groups.
The Museum's aim is to gather, record, investigate, conserve, and present the cultural and historic inheritance of the country's many ethnic groups. The Museum wants to portray the cultures and civilizations of additional nations in South-East Asia and the area in the future.

What to See
The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology has drawn a large number of tourists, as well as ethnographers and scholars from all over the world, since its inception. To far, the Museum has amassed 15,000 objects, 2,190 slides, 42,000 pictures, 237 audiotapes, 373 videotapes, and 25 CD-ROMs for public viewing. Aside from being a tourist destination, it is also a center for anthropological study, with several specialists on various ethnic groups on staff. Visitors may discover that the Museum has successfully replicated daily life in Vietnam, as well as religious rites and symbolic festivals of each ethnic group. All of the things on show mix and complement one another to create a bright and diverse image of Vietnamese culture.
